How a Florida Injunction Can Ruin Your Life | Orlando Defense Attorney
By: John Guidry II
A criminal history can kill your chances of getting a job; we all know this. But there’s another legal grenade that can blow up your clean record—and that’s a civil injunction, also known as a restraining order.
My name is John Guidry, and I’ve seen these nasty things destroy careers, families, and futures. They can show up on background checks forever, so you must fight to prevent an injunction from being granted.
Served with an Injunction Petition in Central Florida? This is not a dispute you can afford to lose. Your rights and reputation are on the line. Call my office immediately to prepare your defense. Call John Guidry: (407) 423-1117
The Life-Altering Consequences of a Permanent Injunction
People often underestimate these hearings, but the fallout from a permanent injunction is severe and long-lasting.
- Loss of Your Second Amendment Rights: If an injunction is granted, Florida Statute 790.233 prohibits you from possessing a firearm. For those with a permanent injunction, this can be a lifetime ban.
- Career-Ending Job Loss: If your job requires you to carry a firearm—as a police officer, security guard, or even some federal agents—an injunction will get you fired. Period.
- Blocks to Education and Future Employment: Most colleges will not accept an applicant with an outstanding injunction. It will also appear on even the most basic background checks, causing potential employers to see you as a liability.
- Difficulty Finding Housing: Landlords, apartment complexes, and homeowners’ associations routinely deny applicants who have an injunction on their record. They see it as a sign of drama and risk that they don’t want on their property.
- Constant Risk of a New Arrest: This is one of the most dangerous aspects. An injunction gives immense power to a person who already dislikes you. If they claim they saw you “nearby,” even by accident at a grocery store, they can call the police. You could be arrested for a new criminal charge of “Violation of Injunction,” a first-degree misdemeanor.
Don’t let this happen to you. The granting of an injunction is just the beginning of the nightmare; the real twisting of the knife comes from the collateral damage that follows.
You must fight to keep this off your record. Get yourself protected with a good local attorney who understands what’s at stake. I’m John Guidry, and if you’re facing an injunction hearing in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake, Brevard, or Volusia County, you need an aggressive defense. This isn’t a simple disagreement—it’s a battle for your future. Call my office today.
